Visit on RDM

Recently, we welcomed EU Commissioner Piotr Serafin to RDM. It was an inspiring visit where we demonstrated how EU funding brings innovation to life.

During the visit to the innovative RDM, they were introduced to groundbreaking projects, including: CONCR3DE (3D-printed concrete solutions), Zepp.solutions (innovative hydrogen technology), HCCE (at IT Campus) (sustainable energy solutions).

A special meeting with Carola Schouten highlighted the importance of collaboration between European and local parties for a sustainable and innovative future.

New Innovation Connector

Meet Jard van Lent: our new Innovation Connector.

## Introduction
“My name is Jard van Lent. On the 13th of January, I started as a Campus Innovation Connector at the RDM program office. I undertake this role from my position as Innovation Project Manager at Tekkoo, an innovative action agency based in BlueCity. Prior to this, I worked for several years at Quooker as an Innovator, where I was responsible for sustainable concept development, establishing an innovation funnel, and co-creation with employees.”

## Purpose
“My purpose as a Campus Innovation Connector is to bring together people, ideas, and opportunities to accelerate innovation. In my role, I focus on connecting businesses and educational institutions, resulting in collaborations that contribute to progress in the areas of port, mobility, energy transition, and the built environment.”

## Hobbies
“Outside of work, I enjoy spending time on the tennis court, engaging in photography, and discovering new restaurants in Rotterdam. I am always open to conversations about adventurous travels and new recipes.”

Special visitors at RDM

The Port of Rotterdam is undergoing a transition. Entrepreneurs, educators, and researchers are therefore joining forces. Their goal? To attract and retain the right quality and quantity of people needed by the port. This was beautifully demonstrated on Wednesday at RDM.

It was the ideal place to host a large delegation, including members of the European Commission and the Dutch Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment. Together with HCCE partners Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, STC (Shipping & Transport College), Rotterdam Technical College, and Deltalinqs, the Port Authority gave a presentation on the labour-market challenges and the projects being worked on.

The visit took place to showcase the projects being carried out with the help of EU funding from the Just Transition Fund (JTF). This funding helps ensure that we train the right people for work in the Port of Rotterdam. The energy transition is creating new roles and attracting innovative industries to the port. It is important that people with the right knowledge and skills work there.
