5 years Urban Reef
Five years ago, on June 16, 2026, Urban Reef officially launched on the smallest plot within the Innovation Dock at RDM. Following a significant expansion with an additional plot and an office, they continue today to further develop their innovative production method.
During one of their first projects, they printed with clay, coffee, mycelium, and seeds, which began to overgrow the structure after printing. This marked the beginning of Urban Reef’s experimental character. Now, they are moving toward urban applications and scalability.
Recently, for example, they developed fish motels printed with dredged material from the Maas, supplied by Blauwe Bagger. These fish motels are located near the island of Brienenoord, in Stadionpark, and help enhance biodiversity in the city.
